The following are step-by-step suggestions on how to start a church-wide divorce-proofing campaign, which typically consists of small groups/Sunday schools going through the Divorce-Proof Your Marriage book and Discover the Love of Your Life workbook, a five-week sermon series on divorce-proofing, and a church-wide marriage covenant celebration. If you are unable to do a full church campaign, you can use the workbooks for small groups or Sunday schools. Below are some suggested steps to follow for a church-wide campaign.

Step #1
Review the Discover the Love of Your Life All Over Again DVD video kit

Join the Rosberg's in an intimate living room setting as they teach couples to divorce-proof their marriage using six secrets to a forever marriage. Through encouragement, accountability, scriptural evidence and prayer, personal reflection time, and spousal sharing times - each couples will learn where their marriage is on the marriage map and how to reclaim God’s dream for your marriage. This eight-week study is ideal for couples, small groups, Sunday schools, churches, bible study groups, and can be adapted for marriage retreats. For each of the group sessions, we recommend couples share the Divorce-Proof Your Marriage book and each have their own Discover the Love of Your Life All Over Again handbook (for groups that meet 45-60 minutes) or workbook (for groups that meet 1 ½- 2 hour). Step #2
Review the sermon series

As your church begins to prepare for this marriage emphasis, you will probably need to review this idea with your church leadership and look at your church calendar to determine the best time to do this series. Click HERE for a sample timeline for a SUGGESTED church campaign. Please note that this campaign is successful because it can fit into the dynamics of any church. Following this timeline is not necessary, but it has been the most widely used.

Step #4
Select an individual or group of people that will help you implement this message

This person(s) is someone that you trust and has a heart for marriage. They will help you promote this in your church, possibly host the small group(s), and be your go-to person on this campaign. Share the vision of this with them and have them help you personalize this for your church. Many times, it’s a good idea to have people that you would like to host the small group, go through the study together as a group. This way, they can experience it for themselves and then they can share it with others. Everything a person needs to host a small group/Sunday school is provided in the back of each workbook.

Step #5
Develop a prayer network

If you already have an existing network of people that pray for specific needs for your church, ask them to begin to pray for this series. Marriages and families are bound to be under attack from Satan as we purposefully focus on strengthening marriages through this series. If you don’t have a prayer network set up, ask one person to lead the effort and discuss with them the best way to provide a strong prayer covering for this campaign.

Step #6
Begin promoting the divorce-proofing campaign to your church

Posters and bulletin flyers are available. These are great ways to promote this series to your church. It’s also good to devote a few weeks to making an announcement about this. Many times, churches will begin talking about it 4-5 months in advance of the series. If your church uses multi-media presentations, such as PowerPoint, it’s great to begin announcing it here. Also using your Sunday school classes to gain support of the movement is a great way to promote this. Promoting it on your Web site and in your church’s newsletter are also excellent ways to get the word out. The divorce-proofing campaign is also a great outreach to the community. Churches have even taken out ads in the local newspaper to promote this to the community.

Step #7
Order the resources needed to launch your campaign.

Each person participating in the divorce-proofing campaign will need a workbook or handbook. Couples can share the accompanying book. Order by simply calling 1-888-608.COACH. Launch the sermon series and small group studies

Begin planning for the Covenant Service Celebration

The Covenant Service Celebration is a time for couples to recommit to their wedding vows, publicly proclaim their lifetime commitment, and sign the Our Covenant Home certificate*. Couples are encouraged to invite their children, friends, and other family members to witness this occasion. Many churches have held a wedding-like reception after the service complete with wedding cake, photos, and time with family and friends. It’s truly a great time of celebration!
